Summary
At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, IBH providers at CentraCare worked to find ways to support our teams, including by finding ways to support staff wellbeing. These efforts were well received by our clinics, which led to their inclusion in our system-wide staff support response plan. One of the interventions supported on a system-wide level was the use of Huddle Tips: brief practices that could be incorporated into pre-existing huddles used throughout out our organization. Many employees were interested in practices that could be added to their day once they learned: (1) what those looked like, (2) the neuroscience behind these practices, and (3) how they and their teams could benefit by implementing these practices. A work group consisting of employees from different backgrounds (e.g., MD, RN, PsyD, LICSW, Program Improvement, Leadership Development) and departments developed 8 categories of tips, and a smaller subgroup developed content for these categories. Tips were posted weekly on our staff support website, and categories were rotated to increase the likelihood that staff had exposure to tips from all categories. Tips received positive feedback and were accessed frequently (Ellison & Mahowald, 2021). The utility of this technique resulted in our organization’s decision to give Huddle Tips a permanent home in our Program Improvement Department. Tips were archived and indexed for long-term use. The current poster will provide an overview of the development and implementation of Huddle Tips, will share examples of Tips used in our organization, and will demonstrate ways in which team have incorporated these Tips into their regular workflow.
